Meet Sara!
"Hello! My name is Sara York, I am the owner and dog trainer at our new facility (Ducktown Lodge) We built our facility with you in mind. It is situated on our beautiful spacious family farm in North Forsyth. We are dedicated to building a haven for your dog (s) and lifelong friendships with our doggie humans. I am an experienced dog trainer who focuses on assisting owners in establishing a long-lasting relationship with their furry best friends. My family are lifelong dog lovers and animal folks. I have owned and loved dogs my entire life. Animals were always a big part of my life growing up and I always knew my career would include them in some way or another. Before I got into this industry, I rode horses for throughout my childhood and teenage years, where I competed at the top level of my sport. "My love for animals has always been the central factor of my life, and I have based all of my lifetime decisions on my passion. Right after high school, I became a vet tech for 2 years. Later, I decided to invest my time in learning about dog training. I worked for several years under a dog trainer in North Georgia who taught me valuable lessons in dog training. Now, eight years later (and A LOT of loving dogs and families), I have found the perfect career. Thanks to my family and my mentors for all of the wonderful inspirational factors that have led me down this path. I am very blessed and hope to share my passion with you."
Sincerely,
Sara York
About My Philosophy - The Balanced Dog Training Approach
"To help dogs learn, it's important to teach them both desirable and undesirable behaviors. I like to give each dog at least a day to adjust to their new environment before starting the training process. During the first two weeks, I start with leash training to assess their temperament and any issues. Once I understand their individual needs, I spend two to four days teaching them new commands and how to walk on a leash. After this initial period, I introduce their training collar and intensify the training.
We work on leash with their training collar and around day 7-9 I begin their off-leash work. I shoot to send dogs back to their families around day 14, but some pups take a little longer. I don’t mind spending the extra time since I don’t want to send any dogs home without being ready. It isn’t about getting it done within a certain period, it’s about the pups and their humans being happy.
I also offer a complimentary one-on-one training session after completion of the board and train program. Then, hour-long private sessions are offered for a discounted $60. I want you and your fur baby to succeed. I will help you during your journey to build a happy, healthy, and strong bond between you and your best friend."

Every pup is different!
Why Choose Balanced Dog Training?
Why choose balanced dog training? It helps you and your dog communicate effectively and live in complete harmony. Balanced Dog Training uses both reward-based techniques and aversive consequences for behavior modification.
I try to create a unique program for each pup I work with. Our training program is hands-on and owner-operated! We are selective and only train a few dogs a month so our space is limited. We believe in treating each dog like a member of our own family. That's why we offer a range of training options, from 2-week board and train program to customized training programs tailored to your dog's specific needs. Our priority is one-on-one attention.
Dog Training - Board and Train Programs
We offer several packages based on the dog and owner's needs. Our board and train programs are from a 2-week off-leash $1,800
All training programs require a deposit with is non-refundable. No refunds are offered for “no–shows” on the agreed-upon day of drop-off. Reservation fees are transferable for 6 months from the date of signing the agreement.
