5 tips for Boarding Your Dog and What to Pack.
Essential Checklist: What to Bring When Boarding Your Dog
Summer is a popular time for travel, and sometimes those travel plans don’t include your dog. Before boarding your dog, make sure their vaccinations are up to date, ensure they wear identification tags, pack enough food and treats, provide clear instructions for medications, bring their bedding and toys for comfort, and gather any necessary grooming supplies.
5 tips for packing your doggie for dog boarding
What to bring to Ducktown Lodge while boarding my dog
- Food – It is very important to help maintain your dog’s normal routine. If they’re eating a familiar food that they like, it may provide them with some comfort and normalcy in an abnormal situation. We like to ask our doggie lovers to pack your dog’s meal in pre-portioned, individual baggies. This helps us eliminate any questions and simplify meals. We also think it’s a good idea to allow for a couple of extra days.
A note about sudden food changes from AKC. “Some boarding facilities offer their own food, but a sudden change in diet can be bad for our dogs, especially if it’s happening during an already stressful time. Whether they’re staying with a friend or at an overnight daycare, we highly recommend bringing your dog’s usual food”

- Collar – this is a must we provide leashes.
Documents are prepared well before drop off to ensure that we have all of the correct vaccinations, and records for your dog safety and well being.
Remember, being prepared is key. Emphasize the significance of familiar items and routines, such as bringing their favorite toys, bedding, and maintaining their regular feeding schedule, to help your dog feel more at ease during their stay.
